OBJECTIVE
Identify potential pathways to transition from an extractive and inequitable community to a regenerative community in the Methow Valley.
Regenerative communities strive to heal the entire community of life, rather than just parts of it, by working with nature to create equitable health for both people and nature. This requires a deep respect for the local ecology and a willingness to learn from and change with it.
THE PATHWAYS SHOULD ENSURE:
Regenerative ecosystem support, with a focus on:
Biodiversity
Clean air
Water stewardship
Climate change mitigation, with a focus on
Soil health
Wildfire prevention
Conserving natural resources
Transitioning away from fossil fuel consumption for infrastructure, transportation, and utilities
Easily accessible financial incentives for all community members to support the goals above, potentially utilizing
Voluntary carbon markets
Biodiversity credits
Distributed energy resources (DERs)
Grants and other funding options
